In the summer every football fan wants to know who will play and where next season. They often find that information on websites, or magazine, outside Sky Network. In Italy, users love Transfermarkt or Gazzetta Dello Sport.
In terms of content Sky Calcio (related to Sky Sport) is a channel covering Italian and international football, and a small selection of news, video and photo gallery. It’s not enough!

In terms of process, we focused on the five-stage Design Thinking. I worked closely with UX Team in Paris (Comptoirs Agency) to provide visualizations ( especially maps), personas, benchmarking, sketching, ideas, etc …
The discovery session was very productive, in fact during the define phase we had a lot of data to build complete personas. In this case, we have Paolo Melzi (football expert). Paolo is a plumber and huge fans about football. He is proud to have a complete "Sky Calcio Pack" for 20 years. During the summer and winter, he spent a lot of time to see a football player market.
Sadly we hadn't enough time to design a rich wireflows because stakeholders wanted to see the final layout, two weeks after the ideation phase. So I build a simple structure (for example, I didn't define "infographic section").
Styleguide and Grid
I designed all component library (from CTA to complex infographics). For the grid side, I decided with Development Team in Paris, what was the best solution to create a platform fluid across multiple devices.
In terms of visual value, Sky Sport Football Scanner tried to be playful, gaming (dark mode) but at the same time editorial and easy to read. I made many presentations about our design strategy, especially moodboard and infographics.
I designed all screens for desktop, tablet and smartphone. I worked remotely with the Development Team in Paris and on Basecamp to define roadmap and deliverables.
